It’s a busy pre-holiday weekend in Tomball, with three key events with free admission are happening in two locations.
A German-themed holiday market with more than 175 street merchants will take up residence in downtown Tomball near the Train Depot Plaza Dec 12-14. The “Weihnachtsmarkt, Texas Style” event is free. The market is open 6-10 p.m. on Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Dec. 13 and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 14. Live authentic German music and cultural performances will be featured on five stages throughout the event.

At the same location, on Dec. 13 – the city presents the fourth annual “Christmas on Commerce” event, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. – which will coincide with the German holiday market. Santa and Mrs. Claus will make an appearance during the event and craft activities will be available for the family. Also planned: free pony rides, a petting zoo, train rides and an outdoor 6 p.m. showing of “Jingle All the Way.” Local choirs from Tomball area elementary, junior high and colleges will perform throughout the day. Admission is free.
The annual Christmas Open House and Candlelight Tour is set for Dec. 12-13 at 6-9 p.m., where free homemade wassail, coffee and cookies are available to those who stroll the 13 historic attractions at the Tomball Museum Center. Local church choirs will perform in the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Griffin Memorial House and the gazebo. The Spring Creek County Historical Association which administers the Tomball Museum Center presents an experience of a living history of what it was like to live in Tomball during the mid-19th century.
